Throughout the year there are several technology related conferences that provide new insight for teachers and those interested in educational technology. Here I've listed a few of my favorites.
TRLD - Technology Reading and Learning Diversity
January 26-28 in San Francisco
This conference was started by Don Johnson. His company is well know for providing software for students at risk and struggling learners. This conference attracts presenters and attendees from all over the country.
CUE - Computer Using Educators
March 6-8 in Palm Springs
This conference is one of several regional/state conferences that directly relates to integration of technology in the classroom. In the last couple of year the hour long concurrent sessions have been outstanding. And the exhibit hall is nothing to sneeze about. Lots of companies showing off the latest and greatest of their wares. Even a one day pass of Saturday is well worth it. They also have a student showcase where local students show what they are doing to integrate technology in the classroom. Saugus has had several student showcase exhibitors over the last few years.
Tech Ed -
Middle of April in Ontario
Only worth the while if you get free admission, which is often the case. Some good presentations, but the exhibit hall is usually lacking. My biggest complaint is the drive in the traffic to Ontario. I'd rather go to Palm Springs.
ISTE =International Society for Technology in Education (NECC)
June 30-July 2, 2008, San Antonio, Texas
From the people who gave us the technology standards we use.
This is an annual national conference. This last summer it was in New Orleans. In 2006 I attended the one in San Diego It was incredible. The exhibit hall was as big as a football field. And there wasn't enough time to attend all the workshops I wanted.
MAC World -
January 4-18 San Francisco.
For the Mac lovers in all of us.
Technology and Learning - Tech Forum
In May of each year in Long Beach
